Board of Directors

Craig Connors, Executive Director

Craig has built an impactful career in the investment sector, with a focus on hedge funds, private equity and venture capital. His journey began as an equities trader while building a solid foundation in finance, and he quickly developed a keen interest in identifying and nurturing innovative business opportunities. His passion for mentorship and his hands-on approach to guiding founders through challenges have led to the successful launch of numerous impactful ventures. His work is rooted in the belief that strategic investment can be a catalyst for meaningful change, whether by backing groundbreaking technologies or in supporting underrepresented communities.

Raised by two teachers, Craig has long understood the pivotal role that education plays in shaping one's future. He earned a degree in Applied Economics and Accounting from Plymouth State University that equipped him with the analytical skills necessary to navigate complex problems.

Craig and his wife live in coastal Connecticut with their three children. As engaged parents, they are deeply involved in their children’s education and extracurricular activities, fostering a love of learning and supporting their interests in sports, the arts, culture and academics.

David Hession, Ed.S, M.Ed, AET

David is a dynamic educator, entrepreneur, and innovator who thrives at the intersection of learning, technology, and human connection. With a career spanning classroom teaching, nonprofit leadership, and business intelligence, he has mastered the art of translating complex ideas into clear solutions that empower students and educators alike. As the founder of Hands Across the Water, a nonprofit dedicated to educational equity, and StressLessEd, an educational therapy practice, David has spent years equipping families and schools with tools to navigate social-emotional challenges. His unique blend of skills—from authoring the children’s book 'Learn Your Colors?' to analyzing data as a Tableau developer—reflects his belief that transformative education requires both heart and strategy.

A bilingual communicator and award-winning professional, David’s true superpower lies in making the intangible tangible. Whether leading professional development workshops, consulting with schools, or crafting data visualizations, he has a gift for helping others "see the lightbulb moment" in real time. His approach is rooted in real-world experience: over a decade as an educator with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, paired with entrepreneurial ventures that address systemic gaps in learning. With a Master’s in Educational Leadership and a Business Administration degree, he bridges the theoretical and the practical, ensuring ideas don’t just sound good—they work.

Beyond his professional achievements, David measures success by the connections that matter most. His proudest roles are as a husband to his Ivorian wife and a father to their three remarkable children, who embody the beauty of cross-cultural understanding. Whether he’s presenting at a conference or coaching a struggling student, David designs programs that turn stress into strength, proving that education isn’t just about instruction—it’s about transformation.

Loren Rubino, LPCA

Loren harnesses the alchemy of art and empathy to help children transform unspoken emotions into powerful self-expression. With specialized training in psychology and a fine arts background, she crafts therapeutic experiences that feel less like clinical sessions and more like creative discovery zones—where paintbrushes, clay, and collage become tools for resilience.

A graduate of Albertus Magnus College’s Art Therapy and Counseling program (and a Creative Writing alum of Emerson College), Loren merges clinical rigor with artistic intuition. Her approach is rooted in radical inclusion, informed by years of fostering children of color alongside her husband and three daughters in Connecticut. For Loren, equity isn’t theoretical—it’s the daily practice of ensuring every child feels seen, heard, and valued.

When she’s not guiding young minds through therapeutic art journeys, you’ll find her advocating for systemic change in education and child welfare—because true healing begins when creativity and justice intersect.
