Privacy Policy

A Welcome Home Inc (the "Organization"), a Connecticut non-stock corporation with tax-exempt status pursuant to Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), crafted its Privacy Policy (the "Policy", dated January 1, 2024) in respect for your privacy preferences and to disclose its information collection and sharing policies.

This Policy explains how the Organization collects and processes your personal data. Each time you visit awhinc.org (the “Website”), the current version of the Policy will apply to all visitors and users of the Website.

“Personal data” is any information that enables the Organization to identify you, either directly or indirectly, by referencing any personal identifiers such as name, phone number, location data, online identifier, or any other factor specific and unique to you and your identity.

By visiting the Website, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the procedures and policies referred to in the Policy, and that you consent to the collection of your data, its use thereof, and its sharing and processing practices as set forth within the Policy. 

Depending on the type of communication or transaction, the Organization may collect and process: your name and/or the name of your company; your address and/or the address of your company; your phone number; your email address; and/or your credit/debit card, banking information and/or other billing information.

With regard to each visit to the Website, the Organization may automatically collect technical and/or geographic information, and may also collect non-personalized data that has been submitted to your web browser, and may use the information to provide statistics about visitors to the Website, including: IP address(es); browser and plugin data; and/or operating system(s).

The Organization may also collect and use details about its correspondence with you be it in-person, by phone, through email, text, postal mail, and also about your donations, if any, and special events that you register for and/or attend. The Organization. may also collect and record any pertinent information that you choose to share about yourself.

The Organization will only process your personal data, including sharing it with any third parties, in instances whereby you have provided your consent to do so, and when the processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are party to, or in which it is required to by law.

The Organization may use personal data for the following purposes: to provide you with information about its Mission and its progress thereof; to fundraise and process donations; to provide periodic newsletters; to provide you with information about upcoming events; and/or to respond to employment and/or general inquiries.

The Organization has installed certain safeguards to securely house your information, and only select, designated employees have access to it. Donation pages and contact relationship management databases are maintained by Givebutter, Inc, 2810 North Church Street, Suite 53748, Wilmington, Delaware 19802, and Salesforce, 415 Mission Street, San Francisco, California 94105. Payment processing is transacted by Stripe Payment Company, 354 Oyster Point Boulevard South, San Francisco, California, 94080. The personal data that you provide to the Organization will be securely stored on servers throughout the continental United States. If you are located in a foreign jurisdiction, please be aware that once your personal data has been submitted through the Website, it will be transferred to these servers, where they are subject to certain federal and state laws, and where varying data protection requirements are in place.

The Organization may share your personal data, for those purposes described in its Policy, with: other members of its organization; partner organizations and trusted third-party service providers; search engines, in order to help it to optimize its Website; banking partners and financial institutions; and if legally required by a regulatory authority to do so.

The Organization stores your personal data in a manner that allows it to identify you for as long as is necessary for the purpose of which the personal data was processed. The Organization may retain and use your personal data: as is necessary to comply with any legal obligations; to resolve disputes; to enforce its rights; and/or if it is not reasonably feasible to remove it. In accordance with these requirements, the Organization will attempt to delete your personal data immediately upon your request. 

The Website uses cookies, which are small files that the Organization and its partners store on your browser or hard drive with your consent. Cookies are sent to the originating website on each and every visit, or to another website that recognizes that cookie. Cookies are useful because they allow websites to recognize visitors and to target their interests. The Organization may collect some, or all, of the information available from cookies when you visit the Website, depending on how a visitor uses it. The Organization monitors how visitors use the Website so it can improve it, and collects all of this information anonymously.

The Organization may use cookies to record information about: areas of the Website visitors use; the amount of time spent visiting the Website; the geographic location associated with the visitor's IP address; the type of device and browsing software used to visit the site; how visitors interact with donation pages and newsletter forms; and any error messages that visitors receive while using the Website.

The Organization may collect your email address on its Website through the use of trusted service providers. These service providers may combine your email information with other information they have access to, so that the Organization may fundraise to you via direct mail. 

You may choose to use the Website anonymously without giving the Organization any personal data, as described later in this Policy. The Website uses Google Analytics, an analytical service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google") that uses cookies to generate information about a visitor's use of the Website that is then transmitted to and stored by Google. The information is used to evaluate use of the Website, to provide statistics on Website usage, and to perform other services relating to Website activity. You may opt out of Google Analytics cookies at any time via Google’s plugin, that can be accessed by visiting tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Other cookies that are not related to the Website may also be collected from embedded content on platforms such as Facebook, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and/or X. Some of the advertising cookies used on the Website will remind visitors about the Organization's work and how visitors can help after they have left the Website. It is an invaluable tool for the Organization to raise public awareness of its mission.

After you leave the Website, the Organization has no authority over what personal data may be collected about you, nor does it control how these parties use the information they collect.
